We are now located at Holmes Automotive Group building on the south side of the road, directly across the street from Holmes Honda. (Look for the Kids Against Hunger Parking Signs)

The 2008 goal for Kids Against Hunger of Des Moines was to package 2 million meals. We have surpassed this goal and we are now working on packaging 3 million meals! Come help us meet our goal at our Saturday packaging events. We package meals every Saturday from 10am - 12pm at Holmes Automotive Group on I-80/35 & Hickman Road in Clive.

Mark your calendars for the week of Labor Day 2008, when a statewide packaging week will be taking place at Hy-Vee Hall in downtown Des Moines. Watch for more details in future correspondence from Kids Against Hunger of Des Moines.

World hunger is the largest problem the human race faces at this time with an estimated 800 million people in some type of food-related crisis. Every day more than 40,000 people die from hunger-related causes – that's one person every two seconds.

Kids Against Hunger™ of Des Moines is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to end that tragedy by packaging and shipping life-saving meals to starving and malnourished children in developing countries and the United States. The meals, formulated by Cargill and General Mills food scientists, provide a rich source of easily digestible protein, carbohydrates and vitamins needed by the bodies and minds of undernourished children.

Since its launch in 1999, Kids Against Hunger has fed more than 30 million meals to children in 39 countries through the efforts of 80,000 volunteers.
